CrossFit in Brazil is going nuts, they added approximately 353 new affiliates in 2018.  Europe are finally getting into it after a very slow start, with France, Italy and Spain added 143, 148, and 118 new affiliates, respectively.

But what is perhaps the most interesting stat (and the most relevant one to us maybe) is that NZ has the greatest number of CF affiliates per head of population (approx 1 gym per 34,000), with Australia close behind (41k), and Sweden (61k) and Netherlands (73k) also right up there.

To be clear, that's IN THE WORLD.

Brazil might be growing fast, but they currently have 1 gym per 181,000.  Italy around 95,000

It seems like the Antipodean culture loves us some CrossFit.

Is it the number 8 wire mentality, old school, no muss no fuss of this type of training that appeals to ?  The hard yakka?   The sporting like application of some of the workouts?  Do we trace it all the way back to Gallipoli, gum digging, sheep farming,  walking bare foot to school in the frost, uphill both ways?

Who knows.

An interesting thought for a Monday though right?!
